Summary of basic studies

Baseline studies aim to understand the current environmental conditions of the site before any development. They help identify environmental sensitivities and guide decisions to reduce impacts.

The main elements studied include:

Key results

Ambient noise

Noise

The measured noise levels are representative of a quiet rural environment. They generally comply with current standards and are mainly influenced by natural sources such as wildlife and weather conditions.

Water quality and hydrology

Water Quality

Analyses indicate that overall water quality is good and meets applicable criteria for the majority of measured parameters. Some isolated variations were observed, particularly for parameters such as alkalinity, but these are consistent with the natural conditions of the environment. Monitoring continues to better understand these variations.

The fauna and flora

The fauna and flora

The inventories identified a diversity of plant and animal species representative of the region. Some bird species at risk were observed near the site, highlighting the importance of considering sensitive habitats in project planning.

Key findings of the studies

The data collected shows that the water quality is generally in line with environmental standards.
The site includes several wetlands of ecological interest.
Natural variations in certain parameters have been observed and are being monitored.
Geochemical analyses indicate short-term stability of the materials studied.

What happens next?

Environmental studies are continuing in order to document seasonal variations and deepen the understanding of the natural environment.

The data collected will be integrated into the environmental and social assessment process as well as the project design. The objective is to plan and operate activities in a way that avoids, minimizes, and manages potential impacts on the environment and surrounding communities.
